Staying Safe: Action Plan

Staying Safe Action Plan

Following a wide consultation on ‘staying safe', including consultation with parents, children and young people, the government has recently published the ‘Staying Safe: Action Plan'.

The consultation ended on 31st October and is a cross-Government strategy, with the main aims being to:

  • "Raise awareness of the importance of safeguarding children and young people
  • Promote better understanding of safeguarding issues, encouraging a change in behaviour towards children and young people, and their safety and welfare
  • Ensure work in this area is coherent, and effectively coordinated across government
  • Reinforce existing activity by implementing a range of new commitments"

The Action Plan highlights three key areas for safeguarding children and young people, comprising universal safeguarding, targeted safeguarding and responsive safeguarding.  Sections of the plan are devoted to each area of concern and it considers local delivery, public awareness and central direction. There is a Public Service Agreement (PSA) underpinning the plan, which will be monitored by a new Child Safety PSA Board.  The initiative will have strong links to the ECM agenda.

Below you can find links to the Action Plan.  A full review of Staying Safe: Action Plan has now been published on the TTRB.
